Trident Girls Swimming to a Great Season Start
The Trident Swim and Dive team have had a busy start to their season since their first practice on August 9th. The girls first meet was the Fun In The Sun outdoor invitational hosted by the Merrill Swim Team. This relay meet gave the girls a chance to race with one another and start building those all important relationships that all great teams must have. A highlight of this meet was the 4th place finish in the 4 x 50 Butterfly by Kempen, Lunemann, Allard and Bunton. On Monday, August 22nd the team held their 24 hour relay fundraiser. The girls alternated every 30 minutes with at least one team member always swimming. At the end of the 24 hours, the girls logged a total of just under 45 miles of swimming!!! Just two days later, the team loaded up and travelled to Colby High School to participate in the Colby/Abby Pentathlon. Here the girls swam 50 yards in all four competitive strokes (freestyle, butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke) and a 100 yard Individual Medley. The girls did well with Madi Kempen finishing the night as the 2nd place overall Junior and Senior Madeline Bunton claiming 1st place in the backstroke and 2nd's in the fly and freestyle. The girls will host Black River Falls on Tuesday, 8/30 and then travel to Rhinelander on Thursday, 9/1 to start their regular conference season. Start times for both meets are 5:30pm.
