Lake Holcombe Awarded Charter School Grant

The Lake Holcombe School District has been informed by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction that the charter school application submitted for the development and implementation of the Lake Holcombe Career Pathway Academy has been reviewed, approved, and funded. The Lake Holcombe School District will initially receive $640,000 in charter school funding to implement the proposed Lake Holcombe Career Pathway Academy. The pillars of the Career Pathway Academy are as follows:

·         Community Integrated Project Based Learning

·         Industry Recognized Certifications

·         Targeted Support for High Needs Students

·         Flexible Mastery of Learning

Project based learning integrates core academics with skilled trades, emerging technologies, and life skills. This creates critical thinkers and analytical people through hands-on, real-world projects and learning. Our students will additionally master essential employability skills. Our innovative technology and trades programs offer hands-on training in various fields, including computer assisted design, automotive technology, welding, electrical trades, horticulture, forestry, building construction and cabinetry. This funding will assist in taking those programs to a new level.

This funding will help to facilitate Lake Holcombe’s commitment to its students and the development of personalized learning plans that lead to future ready graduates. Lake Holcombe was recently recognized in a local article for having the highest graduation rate of area schools. This grant will bolster that tradition. Additionally, attendees of the Lake Holcombe Career Pathway Academy will have access to and participate in all Lake Holcombe athletics and co-curricular programming.
