🏆Chippewa County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) announces Nicole Crosby, Lake Holcombe School Counselor, as the recipient of the 2026 Friend of Public Health Award, recognizing individuals who make meaningful contributions to the health and well-being of Chippewa County residents.🏆
Ms. Crosby is recognized for her dedication to supporting youth mental health, substance use prevention, and student well-being. She partnered with CCDPH to establish a Youth Advisory Council, empowering students to review Youth Risk Behavior Survey data and identify goals to create positive change within their school community.
Ms. Crosby has also helped bring together community partners and service providers to address the needs of youth and families in the Lake Holcombe area. She also serves on the Chippewa County Healthy Communities Coalition Mental Health and Well-being Team, working collaboratively to increase awareness of and access to mental health resources across Chippewa County.
"Nicole exemplifies what it means to be a champion for public health. Through her leadership, compassion, and commitment to youth and families, she has strengthened connections between schools, community partners, and public health efforts. Her dedication to elevating youth voices and advancing mental health and substance use prevention initiatives is making a lasting difference in Chippewa County, and we are proud to recognize her as the 2026 Friend of Public Health Award recipient," said Brittney Fortuna, Director/Health Officer, Chippewa County Department of Public Health.
