Students, staff, and parents of Lake Holcombe School District, it has been my absolute pleasure to be involved in the schools over the past three years. The relationship between the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office and the residents of Holcombe and surrounding area has always been a positive one, but I think it has greatly improved since you all have invited Deputy Jarecki and myself into the school. Holcombe holds a special place in my heart. Although I’m not “from there”, I spent some time in my earlier years growing up there. I have made lifelong friendships with people from there who I consider family as well as having actual family there.

Since becoming your School Resource Officer I have made even more friendships. Not only with staff but more so the students. I’m proud to know you all and look forward to seeing “who you become”. There’s a pile of talent and skill that walks the halls of your school. Cliché or not, all you have to do is look in the mirror. Don’t ever doubt it. You’re afforded opportunity in school to hone those talents and skills; please consider taking advantage of each of those opportunities. You all are not far off from being responsible for the community you currently call home and those communities you will call home in the future, no matter how big or small. Continue to improve the community with those talents, whatever they may be. Continue to be kind. Offer the same kindness you have shown me, who was once a stranger, to your classmates, teachers, parents, and future strangers. Don’t believe those who tell you this world is or you are a lost cause. Kindness and understanding is the key. Thank you for giving me a break in my daily shifts to visit, joke, and hang with you. I needed it!

This is my final week as a full-time deputy with the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office. I was offered an opportunity to work for an excavation company and will be operating heavy equipment for them. Not if, but WHEN you see me again, please say hello if you see me before I see you. I’m going to want to know where life is taking you!

THANK YOU, LAKE HOLCOMBE! GO CHIEFTAINS!
